AxisAxis is an electrical guitar manufactured by the veteran musical instrument maker, Music Man. Axis, mostly sporting a vibrant brown finish, has been used by professional musicians as well as musical hobbyists. Weighting just around 7 pounds, this instrument can easily be manoeuvred by players of both sexes. Other than brown, some common colours of this guitar include opaque black along with a cream pickguard and a cream colour. The Axis is made of basswood with a maple top. Like other guitars, the Axis is composed of three main parts; the body, fret board and headstock. The six strings are stretched across the body of the guitar over the saddle to get wound around the tuning pegs located in the headstock. These pegs can be turned in either direction to loosen or tighten the strings to get the exact pitch when tuning. A trembler attached to the head allows the player to sustain a note. The 22 frets are arranged along the fret board. Having a solid body, the sound from the Axis is not produced through resonance but rather electrically. When a string is strummed, the vibrations generated are converted into electrical signals that are transferred to an amplifier through wires. From the amplifier, the signals are sent to the speaker from which the sound output finally emits. |
