Baby Grand PianoA baby grand piano is an affectionate term given to a mini grand piano whose length does not exceed 6 feet. This instrument, having an appeal of its own, can grace the room in which it is placed with an old world charm. Made of shiny polished high-quality wood, a baby grand piano is a family treasure, transcending generations. Grand pianos were used by famous musicians and composers like Beethoven, Bach, Schubert, Mozart and Haydn for centuries. The baby grand piano functions when the player depresses the keys on a keyboard consisting of white and black keys. Each key is connected to a hammer having a felt covered tip. As soon as the key is pressed, this hammer strikes a set of 2 or 3 strings that are tuned to the same frequency. The vibrations of the strings create a resonance that results in the sound being produced. Pressing each note gives rise to a different tone. The musical tones are grouped into seven notes called an octave, each note being given a unique alphabetic notation from A to G. A typical full-sized baby grand piano would have around 7 octaves. The notes from a piano are considered by many as the richest as compared to all other musical instruments. Both new as well as used pianos are available for sale at many outlets across the world. Electronic and digital baby grand pianos are also manufactured nowadays. |
