Boss Pedal

Boss is a division of the Roland Corporation (famous for its legendary line of colourful guitars and bass effects pedals) that produces a wide range of musical products. The company is best known as the one that put the "stomp" in "stompbox". The wide array of musical instruments ranges from the legendary CE-1 chorus Boss pedal to the widely acclaimed line of compact pedals. The Boss name is recognised by guitarists around the world as the first name in compact effects pedals. The company has consistently pushed the limits of technology to deliver innovative multi-effects, rhythm machines, personal digital studios and other musical instruments for professionals spanning all genres like classic or hard rock, blues, jazz, country and funk.

When the first Boss pedal was introduced, its warm, smooth overdrive sounds and innovative pedal features set it apart from other stomp boxes that were available in the market. The Boss compact pedals were released in 1977 with the classic OD-1 Overdrive. These Boss pedals featured a heavy-duty construction with rubber pads at the top and bottom, recessed control knobs, silent switching, and a built-in LED. This all new design set the trend for all future Boss effects pedals.

The incorporation of dual-layer circuit boards enabled the pedals to deliver studio-quality sound effects that are as good as the rack mount units. Some of the popular Boss effects pedals and distortion pedals include the Boss Effects GT 8 and the BOSS BCB-60 Pedal Board, among several others.
