CelestionCelestion is a manufacturer of loudspeakers. This British company was founded in 1924 in Hampton Wick. In 1927, Celestion Radio Company and Celestion Limited were formed and the company shifted across the Thames to the market town, Kingston. Celestion was purchased by the company British Rola in 1947 and its name changed to Rola Celestion. A year later, the company’s production was moved to the village of Thames Ditton. The postwar years of the company was marked by the production of television, radio, and "hi fi" speakers. The county town of Ipswich was chosen for the company’s production in 1968. Celestion’s name changed from Celestion Industries in 1970 to Celestion International in 1979 after merging with a clothing company. The loudspeaker business line of Celestion was purchased by Kinergetics Holdings in 1992. Celestion was the first to manufacture a loudspeaker called Celestion SL600 that was made with the combination of rigid honeycomb aluminium material with drive units. These were designed using laser interferometry and impulse response testing, which offered colouration-free sound. Celestion modified a standard "G12" radio speaker. Celestion offers products like guitar loudspeakers, bass guitar loudspeakers and professional audio loudspeakers, among others. Many Celestion products like loudspeakers and speakers are available on online shopping sites in UK and other countries. |
