Crumar
Crumar was an Italian musical instrument manufacturing company. The company was founded by Mario Crucianelli. In 1970s and 1980s, this company manufactured synthesizers and keyboards. The Crumar synthesisers and keyboards were of top notch quality and were a favourite among amateurs as well as professional musicians. The company no longer manufactures musical instruments as they wound up their operations in 1987. These musical instruments are considered vintage items and are a favourite among collectors.
The company made Crumar digital and analog synthesisers. One of the very famous musical instruments from the company is the Crumar Spirit. Mario Crucianelli took help from Bob Moog and two of his other employees, Jim Scott and Tom Rhea in the beginning of 80s for making the instrument. The Crumar Spirit was finally released in 1983. This synthesiser was made using CEM chips from Curtis. Spirit was equipped with dual mixers and audio paths. It was quite flexible as it was equipped with dual oscillators, dual filters, dual modulators, dual ADSRs and 3 mod wheels. Another popular instrument is the Crumar Performer. This synthesiser featured a string section that enhanced the musical performance. Popular artists who used Crumar instruments include Space Jazz musician Sun Ra, Duran Duran keyboard player Nick Rhodes and Gilles Snowcat from Awaken.
