About Guitar Neck

Over decades of popular music, the guitar has proven time and again to be the most versatile instrument available to performers. From the heart-wrenching solos of old blues masters, to the effect-soaked drones of progressive rockers, to the casual strums of the hobbyist songwriter, the guitar has a place in almost every genre, and has thus become the instrument of choice for millions of musical artists. For many, one of the great joys of owning a guitar is the instrument's inherent costomisable nature. Although finely crafted by experts in factories and workshops around the world, a guitar bought 'off the rack' - as most are - can be altered, tailored and tinkered with by the owner in many ways. Electric models in general feature necks which are relatively easy to detach and replace with no more than a basic toolkit and a little research. This increasingly common practice allows the modern guitarist to construct a truly unique instrument which looks the part and stands out from the rest. Of course, cosmetic changes are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to modifying a musical instrument. Guitar necks of different shapes, sizes, materials and finishes offer a wide variation of available 'feels' to the player. Some guitarists choose to utilise a wide neck, allowing for wider string bends without interfering with other strings, while others prefer more slimline styles which require less reach of the fingers from one string to the next. It is important to take a little time to learn the ins and outs of guitar neck customisation before diving right in, but once the owner gets to grips with the process, the possibilities of modification and personalisation are endless.
