Ibanez RG
Ibanez RG is an electric guitar model, reputed across the world for its high precision sound, exceptional clarity and high built quality. It is also among the most renowned guitar models to have come out of the Ibanez guitar factory. Ibanez produces signature guitar models for various famous musicians. The RG model is one such derivative of well-known guitarist, Steve Vai’s signature JEM/Universe series. Released in 1987, it gained instant liking among the hard rock and metal rock music lovers and musicians alike.
The RG in the Ibanez RG series stands for Road Gear. RG570 was the first of the Ibanez RG guitar models. It featured a Floyd Rose tremolo for easy adjustment of strings, which was one of the reasons for its popularity; others being affordable cost, exceptional make and performance quality. Still in use, these are ideal for the amateurs and newcomers; however, many professional musicians prefer the high-end Ibanez RG Prestige Series.
The RG series is recognised by thin neck along with a flat and wide double octave (24 fret) fret board. Additionally, the body sports a double cutaway for better access to the upper frets. RG guitar body is made of high-quality mahogany or basswood whereas the fret board is mostly of rosewood; however, maple is also used sometimes. These features have made these guitars among the most desired across the world. Some of the most appreciated RG models include Ibanez RG 320, RG321, RG1570 and RG2610.
