Sabian

Sabian is a reputed Canada-based designer and maker of cymbals. These contemporary percussion instruments are normally circular in shape and are made of copper-based alloys like brass and bell bronze. These instruments are widely used in concerts, orchestras, bands and marching parades. Cymbals are employed with drums in drum kits to constitute an integral part of modern music.

Established by Robert Zildjian in 1981, Sabian is headquartered in Meductic, New Brunswick. The word ’Sabian’ is derived from the first couple of letters of the names of Robert’s children Sally, Billy and Andy. HH and AA were the initial lines of cymbals launched by this company, comprising the conventional bell bronze alloy. While the HH cymbals were made by hand, the AA line was produced by machine. Known for their relatively thin design, Sabian’s cymbals often use a tin-based alloy to produce a distinct sound.

Some of the well-known artists who prefer Sabian cymbals include Phil Collins, Chad Smith, Neil Peart and Jose Pasillas. Many famous drummers loved the consistency and sound quality of these instruments.
