CamerasThe first camera was built in 1685 by Johann Zahn and was small and portable. Later, cameras were made using sliding boxes for focusing and a sensitized plate would be inserted in front of the viewing screen to record images. In 1826, the first permanent photograph was made by French inventor Joseph NicÈphore NiÈpce by means of a sliding wooden box camera made by Charles and Vincent Chevalier, in Paris. For preserving the images captured by these cameras, Frederick Scott Archer, developed the ’collodion wet plate’ process in 1850. This process reduced exposure times considerably. During the same era, bellows were widely used for focusing. James Clerk Maxwell developed the first colour photograph in 1861. Modern cameras have a wide variety of features than olden ones. Modern cameras have optical properties of photographic lenses. Digital cameras that are widely used today can be of several types like video cameras, live-preview digital cameras, compact digital cameras, bridge cameras, digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras, digital rangefinders and Professional modular digital camera systems. Video and digital cameras have a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a CMOS sensor to capture images. Cine cameras capture many images in sequence. The popular brand of cameras that are available online include Moinolta slr digital camera, Nikon coolpix S10 Digital Camera, Hewlett Packard Photosmart 435 Digital Camera and Canon PowerShot A530 5MP digital camera, etc. |
