Digital CameraDigital camera is an electronic device that can capture and save photographs in digital format. These cameras are the new age cameras that not only make the photographerís job easy but also provide high quality photos. Digital cameras donít require a photographic film as they can electronically save the photographs. The first attempt of making a digital camera has been credited to Steve Sasson, an engineer at Eastman Kodak company. This device was made with the solid state CCD chips developed by Fairchild Semiconductor. It weighed around 3.6 kg and was capable of recording black and white images to a cassette tape. The camera provided a resolution of 0.01 megapixel (10,000 pixels) and took nearly 23 seconds to capture its first image. Today, all digital cameras feature an electronic screen that allows one to get the preview of the photographs before clicking them. The images captured by digital cameras are high resolution images. Some of the digital cameras can even record videos. The data from the camera can be conveniently transferred to the computer with the help of USB or Firewire ports. Some cameras even feature Bluetooth or IEEE 802.11 that allow transferring the data wirelessly. Canon digital cameras, Sony digital cameras and Olympus digital cameras are some of the most technologically advanced cameras available today. |
