Digital SLR Camera

A digital SLR camera is an improvised version of the regular Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) camera in existence since ages. The prime differentiation lies in the medium that holds the captured still images. The older technology used films or film rolls while its digital avatar uses a CCD or CMOS image sensor. As images are stored in a digital or electronics format, there is now no need to chemically develop the films to get the end results in your hands.

Digital SLR cameras possess an edge over older analogue or film-based cameras in that the viewfinder is parallax-free. The light from the subject or the area in focus is directly routed from the main lens rather than from an off-axis viewfinder. This feature helps in capturing images as they are seen in the viewfinder, instantly. Using conventional digital cameras makes for viewing images on the LCD viewfinder at relatively low resolutions and brightness. This makes observing details quite difficult, especially during outdoor use. On the other hand, an SLR camera’s optical image can be seen in real-time and is much brighter and highly detailed.

Most professional cameras feature lens with larger diameters and the ability to attach/swap specialised lenses or even long range zoom lens. This feature can mostly be found in highly professional cameras like Canon Digital SLR Camera, Olympus Digital SLR Camera, Nikon Digital SLR Camera.
