EOSEOS (Electro-Optical System) is a single lens reflex camera series. This hugely popular film and digital camera series is produced by Canon Inc. which is one of the world’s leading imaging and digital photography equipment manufacturers. The Canon EOS is a film and digital SLR camera featuring the auto focus system. Canon named its SLR camera model EOS after the Titan goddess of dawn in Greek mythology. Introduced in 1987, the first EOS model was the Canon EOS 650. The EOS cameras were equipped with the innovative EF (electro focus) lens mount replacing the previous FD lens mount. The EF lens mount does not feature any mechanical links within the moving parts of the camera and is controlled electrically with the motors in the lens itself. The EOS design has been innovative in many ways which is also the reason for its world-wide popularity as the preferred SLR camera. By 2000, Canon EOS D30, the first digital SLR camera completely produced in-house, was released. Over the years, this still in production camera series, has undergone many evolutions in its various models. In fact, by the advent of 2007, around 40 EOS SLR camera models have been released by Canon. Today, the Canon EOS SLR camera models are renowned for their ultra modern, feature-rich machinery and good looks. Multi point auto focus, quick control dial and eye controlled focussing are some of the features of the EOS models like the Canon 400D EOS. |
