Artists of ancient times produced some of the most exquisite sculptures and paintings ever made. These sculptures and paintings feature expressions depicting different moods in their female models. The most significant aspect is the S-curve of the body that is known as ’Controposto’, a pose in which one foot is raised up forward and the weight distribution being balanced only on one leg rather than two. These poses can be commonly found in most art works from the Renaissance period In modern times, the female models are employed in the world of fashion, glamour and photography. Models or life-size dummies like female mannequins, dummy or torso are extensively used to display clothes. Anatomical female structures are used in art and medical schools to teach the complexity of the female body. Nude female model statues in different poses are also used as show pieces at public places as well as heritage sites as a tribute to the beautiful female form of the human species. |
