Beswick HorseThe Beswick horse was introduced by Beswick, an England-based company that specialised in making high-quality pottery items. Their pottery figures have become valuable antiques and collectibles. Established in 1894 by James Wright Beswick, this company has a rich history of over hundred years. His children, John and Gilbert, and his grandson John Ewart, all contributed to the success of this company. Initially known as J.W. Beswick, the business expanded after the end of World War I. It grew in popularity after it started making lifelike portrayal of wild, domestic and farmyard animals. The company was also popular for making sets of ubiquitous birds like cock, swallows, ducks, seagulls and kingfishers. Made from porcelain, the Beswick pieces were hand-painted earthenware. The company was taken over by Royal Doulton at the end of the 1960s. The manufacture of Beswick collectables was stopped completely in the 1990s. Several Beswick models are sold as collector’s items. There are many Breswick china horse models that have become valuable collectibles over the years. These Beswick horse models often feature hooves attached to the base. The porcelain used to make these horse models is of excellent quality that makes these collectibles solid and long-lasting. There are many grey Beswick rocking horses for sale as a collectible items. |
