CarltonwareCarltonware is a pottery company that was started in 1890, in Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire, England. It was established by James Frederick Wiltshire and W.H and J.A Robinson and was originally named "Carlton Works". James Frederick Wiltshire became the sole owner of the Carltonware company in 1911 when W.H and J.A Robinson decided to leave the company’s partnership. Following this, the company’s name was changed to "Wiltshire and Robinson Ltd." and Horace Wain became the new designer, introducing new designs as well as unique shapes. The company was named "Carlton Ware Ltd." in 1958. Some of the exclusive collections made by Carlton Ware comprised "Rouge Royale", Kate Greenway style fairies, Chinese and Egyptian styled pieces, among others. Most of them sported bright and vibrant colours. Many ceramic collections by the company made use of flowers like orchids and lilies. Some of the ceramic pieces that are still sought-after comprise transfer jug, large vintage Carltonware leaf, teapot, salt and pepper shaker, cheese dish, toast rack, Carltonware Sylvac Bonzo style pottery Dog, Carltonware Australian design mug with lid, sectional serving dish, classic miniature delivery van and vases, among others.
