CobridgeCobridge Stoneware was a famous pottery company that was established in September 1998 by Hugh Edwards. He also owned the Moorcroft, another pottery company that produced finer quality pottery pieces. The Cobridge Stoneware company was founded with the aim of developing the innovative ideas of William Howson Taylor, who knew the secrete recipe behind the immensely successful Ruskin Pottery. Since a new company with a new brand name was required, the Cobridge name was finalised. Cobridge was meant to create distinctive looking potteries in the Ruskin tradition. The company was set up in a new magnificent structure few yards away from the Moorcroft pottery company. The new building was constructed keeping in mind the future expansion needs of the company. For this, the outer walls of the structure were made to be very strong while the interiors were constructed from blocks so that it could be demolished and rebuilt in a new place as and when needed. The company hired some of the best designers and painters in the business so as to produce highly decorative stone wares. Being committed to creating high-quality products, they soon became much acclaimed and sought after name. The wide range of potteries created by Cobridge includes Cobridge Cowberry vase, Black Cobridge plate, Cobridge bottle kiln plate, etc. Vintage Cobridge wares are still available at several auction sites at premium prices. |
