ColcloughColclough China company is famous for its pottery and porcelain ware. Founded in 1890 by Herbert Joseph Colclough, the company has undergone a series of name changes and mergers (Ridgway, Adderley, Booths & Colclough Company Ltd. and Ridgway Potteries Ltd) before it finalised on ’Colclough China Company Limited’ in 1937. It was the first company that manufactured dinner as well as tea ware, and today it stands as an indispensable item in most households. The company received the royal licence to manufacture the Royal Vale china in 1913 and has gained world wide recognition for its bone china and other ware. The Colclough China Company was one of the first companies to produce fine bone china in the everyday market and these were sold individually rather than in sets. The company ceased production in 1996. Some of the company’s well-known products include Colclough "Amoretta" desert plates, Colclough Braganza teaplates, Colclough "enchantment trio" tea set, dessert bowls, vintage Colclough China tea / Side Plates, Colclough cake plate 6 x teaplates and 3 x saucers and Colclough "Royale" tea set, among others. Colclough tea, dinner and dessert sets are widely available for sale on many online shopping portals. |
