FoleyOld Foley was a popular porcelain product manufacturer of its time. It was located in Staffordshire, England. The style and classic look of Old Foley products make them extremely desirable, even now, although the Company has stopped producing for a long time. Since Old Foley items in good condition are rare, they are a favourite collector’s item. The wide range of products then manufactured by the company includes vases, jugs, plates and other pottery items. Many of these have wavy boundaries and floral designs, which sets them apart from the rest. One of the renowned series from Old Foley is designed by James Kent. James Kent particularly designed plates measuring 5" x 5" for square plates or 16 cm diameter for round plates. The scalloped edges were a peculiarity of this artist. Some of the designs depicted seasonal changes. For instance, the autumn series had yellow flowers and leaves, whereas the square plates made up the spring collection with bright, vibrant floral prints. The jugs on the other hand were pretty, plain and simple. They were of course available in many pastel colours. The Old Foley series was particularly known as the British Military Married Quarters Issue because of it's straight forward look. |
