Glass VaseA popular decorative item, a glass vase is particularly used for keeping fresh flowers in. It is an open container shaped like a pot and made from glass. A typical glass vase shares almost all the elements and properties as a normal vase ó a base called foot, a body which is often the largest part of the vase, shoulders, the neck and the lip. Some vases may also have handles. However, contemporary designs and styles and fusions are available in huge varieties of sizes, designs and shapes. The exterior of the glass vase can be adorned with different glass art such as stain glass, coloured glass or vases made via the blow glass technique. Some of them are also decorated with paints, wrought iron, paper work, saw dust, plastic, etc. Glass vases are often sold in sets of twos, threes or more. These mostly differ in sizes; however, the pattern remains the same. Some manufacturers realise the importance of certain festivals, therefore, they offer seasonal designs in vases. For example, a set of vase sold on Christmas may have snowflakes, Santa Clause, the Christmas Tree, etc. More recently, glass vases have come to be shaped like drinking glasses with narrower circumferences. These are often used as candle stands or for keeping single cut flowers. Glass vases also prove to be good gifts because most of them match with any dÈcor. Some of them also have fancy metal frames that allow the glasses to be hung against the wall. |
