GoebelThe pottery works of William Goebel are much sought after by contemporary collectors. Established in Austria, the Goebel Company offers a wide range of figurines, wares and other pottery products of high vintage value. Most of these products were made using porcelain, ceramic, etc. This company experimented throughout the twentieth century using different methods for glazing porcelain. There is a great demand for Goebel wares of the Art Deco style, which were manufactured in the 1930s. The company ventured into the manufacture of an exquisite line of toys. Goebel set up a separate production facility for making toys towards the end of the 1960s. Since then this company has made a wide array of other products like stemware, salt-glazed stone wares and lamps. Goebel is extremely popular for its collection of Hummel figures created by Berthe Hummel. There were several Hummel figures bearing its own unique shape name and with a height of about five inches. The Hummel figures were highly successful for a couple of decades ending in the 1960s. This line of Goebel Hummel figures included Apple Tree Boy, Coffee Break, Eventide, Feeding Time, Letter to Santa and the Little Tailor. Nowadays Goebel Hummel figures like Goebel bird, Goebel cat, etc are commonly found in homes across the UK. |
