Sheffield UnitedSheffield United FC is one of the oldest English professional football clubs. Formed in 1889, it is based in the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Sheffield United currently plays in the English Football League Championship. It derives it's nickname "The Blades" from the city’s reputation as a steel producer. In fact the club’s emblem, which was officially used in the 1977 and 1978 seasons, features blades. The club’s official apparel is red and white striped t-shirts and shorts.
