IranItís a stamp juggernaut. It has been long followed tradition to collect stamps. Aficionados, who exchange, sell and collect these precious have formed their own clad. Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a centre for many epoch-making monuments such as mosques and Persian architectural structures. They were the first country to conglomerate mathematics, geometry and astronomy to build their architectural wonders. But does that affect stamp collectors? They have been trying to collect the most ancient Iranian stamps. Some of the most terrifically preserved stamps date back to the late nineteenth century. Persian being the official language of Iran, some of the stamps are adorn with beautiful calligraphy. Pastel colours of stamps with bucolic look make them more beatific. The stamps of every interlude portray structures and buildings representing the industrial growth of the country. Besides, moving train, parliament, ship, etc are also evident on them. All the Iranian stamps, like most conventional ones, have their value inscribed and roulette borders. These square or rectangle pieces are often has pillars on the sides, giving a complete and definite look. Antique stamps tend to fetch more dough than their original value. Iranian stamps have changed with passing time. The latest collection of stamps is published to honour martyrs, to depict important events of recent past or some prominent personalities. Some of the social issues are also protested by printing them on stamps; one of them is the school bombardment (stamp issued in 1988). Since most of the modern stamps are readily available in the market they may not demand a higher price in the market. Even if it does, there is a marginal difference. |
