Bloc PartyBloc Party is an Indie rock band hailing from England. The band members of Bloc Party include Kele Okereke who provides the vocals, Russell Lissack who plays guitar, Gordon Moakes who plays the bass guitar and the drummer Matt Tong. Following numerous christening rounds in the past and names like Superheroes of BMX, The Angel Range, Diet and Union being shortlsted the band eventually settled on the name Bloc Party, a reference to an informal neighbourhood festival. The singers emphatically state that the band’s name does not reflect any kind of political allusion. The debut album of the band, Silent Alarm, garnered a lot of critical acclaim. This album scaled the number 3 position in the Official UK charts. The album became NME's album of the year for 2005. The hit singles from this album include "So Here We Are", "Helicopter", and "Pioneers". The band came up with a remix of the Silent Alarm album in the same year. Apart from including the original track list, the album included remixes from M83, Ladytron, Four Tet, Death from Above 1979, and Mogwai. A Weekend in the City, released in 2006, is the band’s second album. The album singles include "The Prayer" and "I Still Remember". |
