Diana RossDiana Ross, an American singer has fascinated the world with her music. She was born on 26 March, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. Diana began her musical career with girl band ñ The Supremes. She was the lead singer for the band, singing many hit songs. In 1967, the group’s name was changed to ’Diana Ross and the Supremes’, as Diana became the main attraction in the band. Diana Ross left the band in 1969 to begin her solo career. She began recording her album with a creative team comprising Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. Diana Ross self-titled debut album was released in May 1970 under the record label, Motown. The album was well received by music lovers, which led to the release of a second album, ’Everything is Everything’, in 1971. She made her foray into movies by playing ’Billie Holiday’ in the 1972 movie, Lady Sings the Blues. Diana Ross was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for her role in that movie. She continued her career in music as well as movies.
