Festivals break the monotony of everyday life as they serve as a means of entertainment and recreation for the participants and onlookers alike. The term ’festival’ refers to any program or period during which cultural events or festive activities are organised. Festivals are mostly held at regularly recurring intervals, such as a particular season or a special date in a year. A local community often organises a festival to highlight its unique aspects.

The early festivals such as those held in Ancient Egypt were religious by nature. The elders used to tell stories and pass important knowledge to the next generation during these occasions.
