Flight Tickets
A person who wants to travel via a commercial flight is required to possess a flight ticket. An airline flight ticket is created by an airline or a travel agent as a confirmation when some one purchases a seat on an airplane. It is used for obtaining a boarding pass at the airport after which one can board the flight.
A flight ticket is generally meant for use with a specific flight only and cannot be used with any other flight, at any other time. Flight tickets which are bought for a particular airline can be used only with the particular airline and on the particular date and time only. However, some times an airline endorses a ticket so that it may be accepted by other airlines, on standby basis or with a confirmed seat. When a passenger misses a flight, he/she can fly standby on the next flight to the same destination. Also, when a passenger arrives at the airport early and an earlier flight exists, then the passenger can attempt to travel standby on the earlier flight. However, standby travelling is subjected to obtaining permission of the concerned airline.
Nowadays one can also purchase an 'open' ticket which allows travelling on any flight within a given span of time, between the destinations listed on the ticket. Flight tickets are available with the flight operator or its authorised agents and one can book flight ticket online as well. Many sites offer cheap flight tickets depending upon seasonal schemes.
