GenesisFormed in 1967 the rock band, Genesis, has achieved worldwide fame through a series of successful albums and memorable singles. With simple catchy guitar-based tunes, the band has managed to garner a loyal fan following among people of different backgrounds in society. First created by the vocalist Peter Gabriel and guitarist Tony Banks, the band later included Anthony Philips on the guitar, Rutherford on the bass guitar and Chris Stewart on the drums. Their first album ëFrom Genesis to Revelationí, was released in 1969 and was well received by the critics. In 1970 drummer and singer, Phil Collins joined the band, taking the group to new levels of expertise. While their studio recordings were popular, nothing beat the Genesis live concerts for the fans, with their tickets being in great demand. Using theatrical stage settings, the performances were a treat to the senses. In 1971, their first album after Collins joined the band, ëNursery Crymesí, was launched, followed two years later, by ëSelling England by the Poundí. The 1976 album ëA Trick of the Tailí was launched which was even more successful than the earlier releases. The talent of the band members is proved by the fact that almost all of the musicians had successful solo careers too. With intentionally meaningful lyrics, the artwork on the album covers too reflected the bandís desire to propagate a message to the fans. |
