Nine Inch NailsAbbreviated as NIN, ’Nine Inch Nails’ is an American rock band formed and founded by Trent Reznor. It was formed around 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio and played alternative rock and industrial rock genres. This band was single-handedly controlled by Trent, wherein he was the producer, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. His songs and lyrics often depict dark explorations of self. He could not find a band that could express his songs as he wanted, so he usually gathers a live band whenever he goes for a tour. The first album released by NIN was ’Pretty Hate Machine’ in 1989. It featured studio production and several songs including singles "Down in It", "Head Like a Hole" and "Sin". Later in 1992, Trent came up with his record title, ’The Broken EP’ that comprised six songs plus two bonus tracks. The year of 1994 witnessed the release of his album, ’The Downward Spiral’, which was a debut at number 2 on the Billboard 200. This album depicted a wide range of moods illustrating the mental progress of a central character. This album was followed by ’The Fragile’, which was released after 5 years in 1999. Other albums released by the band are ’With Teeth’ and the latest ’Year Zero’. Nine Inch Nails Year Zero was released on April 17th, 2007 and describes Reznor's calculation of the impact of US government's current policies on the world fifteen years down the line. The album included the first single for radio airplay under the title, ’Survivalism’. The current lists of members in the band include Aaron North (guitar), Jeordie White (bass), Alessandro Cortini (keyboards), and Josh Freese (drums), however, Jeordie and Alessandro perform with different instruments at times. The band has won many accolades and is all set to continue touring in Europe, Australia and Japan through summer 2007. |
