TicketsA ticket is a piece of paper, card or a slip that gives a person the permission to enter a place such as park, movie theatre, museum, concert or a commercial vehicle like airplane, ship, train, etc. Tickets are typically purchased by paying a particular fare. Mostly the fare for particular class (in vehicle) or to any area is fixed before hand. Some of the tickets are purchased on-the-spot from a ticket counter; whereas others are purchased beforehand on Internet or from a booking agent. Some of the agents give discounts on airfare and other tickets to attract more customers. Tickets may have a seat number allocated to the buyer or it may be an arbitrary seating. Different brands come up with a scheme whereby one can win tickets for some of the big events like world cups, concerts, Olympic Games, etc. Tickets can also have a magnetic barcode that is punched in a ticket machine to gain an entry. Generally, for regular travellers or visitors, passes are available that are priced at a much discounted rate. These passes allow multiple entries unlike a ticket which typically allows a single entry. Multi-entry tickets may not be personal. These tickets can be used by many individuals. There are several online agencies that take care of all the tickets one may require while he/she makes a visit to a foreign town. These tickets are given at cheaper rates since they have tie-ups with airlines, cars, cruises, parks, museums and other tourist places. The imitation of any tickets (especially for a high-profile event) is called counterfeit tickets. These are deceptive as they look like the original tickets and are unlawful. |
