Weekend BreaksA weekend is a term that is used to refer to the one/two days when most paid workers do not have to report to work, and which is considered to be the end of the "working week". Across the globe "weekends" fall on different days, however in most of the Western World (and increasingly across the globe too) the weekend falls on Saturday and Sunday. Most people use the weekend for recreational and leisure purposes such as taking Weekend Breaks. This, according to many analysts is a boon for the economy, as families often use the weekend for movies, restaurant trips, car drives, etc. Lately the idea of a "weekend break" has taken root. Generally, a weekend break is a visit to some nearby place by car, or a visit to any location which can be accessed within 3-4 hours. Also increasingly the idea of Trans-Atlantic weekend break has gained popularity. Popular destinations in UK for weekend breaks are Lake District, Devon, Cornwall, the Yorkshire Dales, Scotland (especially Edinburgh), Wales (especially Cardiff), Ireland, London, etc. Some of the destinations in continental Europe that are popular for weekend breaks are Rome, Athens, Riga, Madrid, Barcelona, Prague, Paris, Brussels, Venice, Tallin, Dubrovnik, Amsterdam, Budapest, Berlin, Nice, Monte Carlo, etc. Weekend breaks are delightful. |
