BoatA radio controlled boat is a scale model boat, which can be controlled by means of a remote, either connected by wires or by means of radio frequency waves. The different types of radio controlled boats are sport boats, scale boats, sailboats, racing sailboats, power boats, racing power boats, combat boats and tugboats. Of these, radio-controlled speed boats are perhaps the most popular, and available in both kit and ready-made form. Scale boats are radio-controlled replicas of full-sized boats. These may or may not be exact in their detailing, and also vary in size, ranging from a few inches to a few feet. Radio-controlled sailboats are model sailboats which utilise the power of the wind or propulsion, but are steered by means of a multi-channel radio control set-up. Racing sailboats are sailboats designed specifically for racing, and these are made according to ISAF (International Sailing Federation) Racing Rules of Sailing. Radio-controlled power boats are model radio control boats which feature complex and powerful propulsion systems like electric motors, internal combustion engines (which may be ignition based or glow plug R/C engine based) or steam engines (either of the conventional type or of flash steam type). Some of these power boats are specifically designed for racing, and these are known as radio-controlled racing power boats. Radio-control combat boats are scale models of existing warships or are model warships, used in mock radio-control battles. These often have the ability to fire projectiles, and are designed to be easily repairable. Radio controlled tugboats are scale model tugboats featuring scale drive systems. |
