Childrens BikesChildren’s bikes are generally pedal driven vehicles with two wheels attached to a frame, one behind the other. They were first introduced in the 19th century and are a principle means of transportation in regions like China and the Netherlands. Children’s bikes are very popular as a form of sport and recreation. They help in the physical exercise and development of children. Kids of ages three years and up might use bikes that are battery operated, hand-operated or pedal driven. Some sports bicycles have optional accessories like chain guards, mudguards, rear racks and panniers. Other bike accessories include lights, reflectors, security locks, mirrors and horns. When learning how to ride a bike, the child might not be able to balance on the bike at first, wherein stabilizers come in handy. Stabilizers offer a safety quotient, when elders or parents aren’t around to watch the kids ride the bike. One can even remove the stabilizers, the pedals and lower the saddle, so the kids are able to scoot the bike around. Also, special child bike seats may be installed to give children maximum comfort and child bike helmets can also be provided for additional safety. The common types of bicycles include utility bicycles, mountain bicycles, racing bicycles, touring bicycles, cruiser bicycles, quad bikes, electric bikes, BMX, tricycles and Quadra cycles, among others. |
