Flames Of WarFlames of War is a World War II table-top miniature war-game revolving around company level battles in the European theatre of war. Flames of War is produced by Battlefront Miniatures Ltd., a New Zealand-based hobby and miniature war-gaming company. It uses 1/100 scale miniatures. The gameplay of Flames of War is turn-based and uses the "I-go, You-go" play style, with players taking turns and, in the process, alternating movements, shootings and close assaults. Though the game is best played in a 2-player environment, it can nevertheless accommodate up to 14 players. In the game, stands represent fire teams (half-squads/sections) of infantry and support troops. Jeeps, motorcycles, armoured cars and tanks are represented by single models. The game also allows players to call in air support from fighters and light bombers though no heavy bombers are available. These aircraft are usually represented by 15 mm scale models. Flames of War uses a six-sided dice and comes with a main rule book that contains numerous scenarios. The "army list" in Flames of War includes many troops. These include British and Commonwealth troops like India, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and New Zealand, Deutsches Afrikakorps, SS, the U.S. Army including Rangers and Airborne units. In addition, there are other troops like the U.S.S.R., Italian including both the elite Bersaglieri and the Fucilieri conscripted troops, Hungarians, Finns, and Romanians. |
