Lego TechnicFamous for its Lego toys, the Lego Group has its main headquarters in Billund, Denmark, from which it runs several businesses worldwide. The Lego brand offers a variety of small inter-locking plastic bricks, gears, mini-figures and other components to facilitate the building of miniature models of vehicles, structures and several other popular objects. This brand has become extremely popular among children all over the world, since it was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen, in 1932. They initially made wooden toys before their trademark Lego bricks was introduced in 1949. The Lego Group has constructed several amusement parks around the world. This group has also introduced an advanced toy line that uses their traditional brick sets. Known as the Lego Technic series, this line provides complicated movable parts for building advanced mechanical models. Initially known as Expert Builder in 1977, this series was renamed Technic in the mid-1980s. The models featured beams, gears, axles, etc. for producing the basic assembly of the structure. The Lego Technic series introduced the concept of building the structures mostly out of beams and pins rather than the conventional bricks. With the aid of studless bricks and beams, vertically challenging models can also be constructed with ease. The Lego Technic tow truck and Lego Technic crane are popular toys among children in the UK. The Lego Technic Bionicle sets are also offered as part of this line up. |
