Six Million Dollar ManThe Six Million Dollar Man is a 1970s American TV series, with a run of 101 episodes between 1974 and 1978. An increasing popularity of the series has spawned numerous merchandise like toys, action figures, lunch boxes, running shoes, t-shirts, children’s eyeglasses, bed sheets, etc, all of which featured images of Steve Austin, the main protagonist of the series. Among the various Steve Austin toys launched, perhaps the most popular were the 12-inch tall Steve Austin action figures, which were launched in the 1970s by Kenner. These figures are still well sought after and intact Six Million Dollar Man figures often command hefty premiums in the collector’s market. Also, besides Steve Austin (the Six Million Dollar Man), other characters in the series like Oscar Goldman (the Director of the OSI, the agency for which Steve worked), Maskatron (the android character, played by John Saxon) and Bigfoot (which was more than 12 inches high). Besides the action figures, Kenner also launched other toys related to the line like a rocket-ship (which could transform into a bionic repair station), an inflatable command base, auxiliary bionic arms (also known as critical assignment arms) and auxiliary bionic legs (critical assignment legs). |
