Transformers

Transformers are a line of toys created by Japanese toy making company, Takara Co., Ltd. These toys have been sold by Hasbro, United States based toy and game company since 1984. A Transformer toy refers to a sentient machine that can transform itself to become a car, aircraft or animal. This toy line was developed during the 1983 Tokyo Toy Show, when the Hasbro representatives met with the Takara representatives. The original Transformers featured two groups fighting for the control of the home planet, Cybertron.

Transformer toys have changed their appearance since 1984. The 1995-2001 line of toys was called Beast Wars/Machines. In this line, all the toys could transform into beasts. Later, in 2001-02, Robots in Disguise toy line was created. Toys in this line could transform into robots. Transformers Cybertron is the latest of the transformer toys. It is named after the Galaxyforce in Japan.

Popularity of the toys led to the development of an animated series and a movie - The Transformers: The Movie. Also, the Marvel comic book series has been written on the Transformers. Ocean Software Ltd. released its first video game based upon the Transformers toys in 1985. The latest video game has been developed for PlayStation 2. The new Transformers movie will be released in 2007. This movie is directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. Trailers of the movie on Transformers have already heightened the interest of the fans in the movie.
