Yu-gi-oh-CardsYu-gi-oh trading cards are available in decks called Starter, Structure, Promotional and Booster decks. Each player usually has a deck consisting of around 40 cards, with only three copies of a card being permitted in each deck. A basic duel involves two players, with the game ending when either player’s life points become 0 or when a player is not able to draw another card, signalling that the participant is the loser of the game. Alternatively, certain card’s have special power to make a player win or lose the game. Drawing of cards can be used to perform various actions like invoking a monster, casting a spell or launching a full-fledged attack. Yu-gi-oh cards are divided into three main types: monster, spell and trap cards. Monster cards are generally yellow, orange, blue or violet coloured cards. These cards are usually used to eliminate monsters and reduce the opponent’s life points while protecting the player’s own life points. Each monster card has a single attribute or type which governs the influence of the special effects on it. Spell cards have a green background, incorporating an array of effects. These cards also have an element of surprise as they can be dealt out face down. Trap cards are pink toned and can be brought in to play at any time. These cards are perfect counter attack implements. Cards with no unique features are known as ’common’ cards. Some Yu-gi-oh card video games are also virtual card based. Each card of these cards has a unique 8-digit printed code, when this code is fed into the video game console, a digital representation of that particular card is created. |
