FIFAFIFA is a popular acronym for FÈdÈration Internationale de Football Association, when translated in English it means The International Federation of Association Football. It is a governing body for international football games and tournaments. However, the term FIFA is actually much synonymous with football or soccer. A popular video game series based on football, called FIFA, was launched in 1993. It is developed by EA Games. FIFA 95 and 96 had 2D players, albeit the ground they played on was a 3D environment. The FIFA 97 version of the game had polygonal players and was enhanced by indoor football. The game received popularity with FIFA 98: Road to the World Cup. This one not only had improved graphics but featured refined gameplay. This version also received a licence that gave each team a unique kit. The game again saw a slow decline because of bugs and poor game quality until 2003. This version of the game was released for Windows, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and Mobile. It also featured revamped graphics featuring advanced Transformation & Lighting visual effects. It had 18 clubs from across Europe. There were later versions of FIFA: the FIFA 2004, FIFA 2005, FIFA 06 and FIFA 07. These games used licensed sound tracks from artists such as Blur and The Crystal Method. South Korea also has an online version of the FIFA video game. |
