Flight SimulatorOften regarded as a video game, Flight Simulator was originally designed as a program for Microsoft in 1977. However, Microsoft got licence for this program only in 1982 for IBM PC. From this very version, this program was promoted as "Microsoft Flight Stimulator 1.00". Before selling it to Microsoft, Flight Simulator was also developed for Apple II. The key behind the success of this program was 3D graphics and hardware that were specially accelerated for the graphics. Since then, the company has been consistently releasing newer versions of Flight Simulators with added features, flights and graphics. One of the drastically improved version of the game, The Professional Edition, was released with 2000 and 2002 versions. The system of releasing dual edition was discontinued in 2004. However, Flight Simulator X, latest version of the game, has been launched with dual edition ñ namely "Standard Edition" and "Deluxe Edition". This version is marketed to pilots, future pilots and those who dreamed to be pilots. The staggering realism of the game can often prove to be a curse for all the game enthusiasts. Flight Simulator X is also enhanced with weather simulators, more than 100s of realistic "Douglas" and "Boeings, etc. Interestingly, to give realistic picture of the current world, makers removed the "Twin Towers" after the attack. |
