Gameboy AdvanceThe Gameboy Advance, a popular handheld gaming console, is an offering from Nintendo. This gaming console was first launched in Japan in March, 2001, followed later by a launch in North America and Europe in the same year. The Game Boy Advance is the first handheld Nintendo game system to use a widescreen on all games. Its 2.9" screen has a resolution of 240 x 160 pixels. The screen supports 15 bit RGB and can display 512 simultaneous colours in "character mode" and 32,768 simultaneous colours in "bitmap mode". The Game Boy Advance SP is the upgraded version of the Game Boy Advance that overcame the shortcomings of the original console and was launched in 2003. The Game Boy Advance SP featured an internal front-light for enhancing playability and had a more compact folding case. The Nintendo Game Boy Advance game went through a second round of redesigning, resulting in the Game Boy Micro that was launched in September 2005. This is a sleeker and smaller version as compared to the original model. It also allowed user-customisation through switching between numerous coloured faceplates. The original game titles of the Game Boy Advance include Advance Wars, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Golden Sun, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mother 3, Ninja Five-O and PokÈmon Ruby/Sapphire, among others. However, the Game Boy Micro is unable to support the Game Boy and Game Boy Colour titles. |
