Gran Turismo 4The Gran Turismo 4 (GT 4) video game premiered in Europe in March, 2005. Gran Turismo 4 has garnered a great deal of popularity; it has been re-issued under Sony’s Greatest Hits series and managed to sell as many as a million copies in the first week of its release in Japan. The PSP port titled ’Gran Turismo 4 Mobile’, which is in the development stage is expected to release somewhere in 2008. The Gran Turismo 4 tests the racing skills of the drivers. Gran Turismo 4 features more than 700 cars by as many as 80 makers, with the car range spanning from vintage (1886 Daimler Motor Carriage) to futuristic cars. The game has 51 tracks, some of which actually exist, like the Suzuka Circuit, Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe and Nurburgring Nordschleife, among several others. The players can play the game in two modes ñ A spec and B spec. In every race, the player can win a maximum of 200 points. In the B spec mode, the players become the racing crew chief. Their job involves informing the driver how aggressive should he be driving, when to pass as well as decide on the pit stops. While the GT4 game does not allow online game play, using the PS2 Network Adapter one can create multi-screen setup. Additionally, it is the first game that supports 1080i resolution on the PS2. |
