Mario KartBeing a part of Nintendo racing games, Mario Kart is a well-known video game featuring characters from the original Mario video game. This easy-to-learn game is popular as a multiplayer game, allowing two to sixteen players to be a part of the game. There are many versions of this game on release: Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Super Circuit and many more. The original Mario Kart game was released under the title Super Mario Kart, in 1992 and featured only two-player multiplayer game mode. The main characters included Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Donkey Kong Jr., Koopa Troopa, and Bowser. These players play the role of participants in go-kart racing around a variety of tracks. Players gain different objects by driving through question mark blocks that provides the player with extra features like powering up the engine for a short span of time (boosting) and much more. Almost every Mario Kart version comprises beach levels like Shy Guy Beach (MKSC) and Cheep Cheep Beach (MKDS), featuring sand, crabs, and tides allowing the use of short cuts. The USP of this game is it's item system. Players are allowed to drive through an "item box" and receive a random item in certain phases. The equalizer aspect allows karts in worse positions get better items and the higher position karts more often get shells and banana peels. There are four categories of items: hazards (for instance items like bananas left on the track as an obstacle), projectiles (like shells fired at other players or obstacles), boosts (that gives the kart more speed) and lastly, special items. Some of the special items include Bullet Bills, Chain Chomps, Lightning, Stars, Boos and Bloopers. |
