Neo GeoNeo Geo is an arcade cartridge-based video game system . This video game console was launched by SNK in 1990. One of its distinctive features was colourful 2D graphics and high-quality sound output. The game console was available in two versions known as the MVS (Multi Video System, the arcade version) and the AES (Advanced Entertainment System, the home version). First only used in hotels and on rent, the Neo Geo console was later sold in stores for home entertainment. With the help of its two CPUs and a custom video chipset, the Neo Geo system was able to display 4,096 colours and 380 individual sprites onscreen at the same time. The Neo Geo game was available with a memory card, two joysticks and a single pack-in game known as ’Magician Lord’. This package was known as the "Gold System" and the pack that came only with a joystick controller and did not come with any game or memory card was known as "Silver System". The joy stick controller available with Neo Geo measured 280mm(w)x 190mm (d) x 95 mm (h) ( 11 x 8 x 2.5 in.) and had a similar four-button layout like the arcade MVS cabinet. The last game released for Neo Geo by SNK was ’Samurai Spirits Zero Special’ released on October 19, 2004. |
