Japanese video game company, Nintendo released Pokemon Diamond a role-playing game (RPG) in 2006 for the first time, in Japan. It is a fourth generation game from the hugely popular Pokemon series. Pokemon Diamond has been developed by Game Freak and today is highly successful video game throughout the world.

Pokemon Diamond is set in the fictional region of Sinnoh which is inspired by the Hokkaido territory in Japan. It is based on the adventure of a single protagonist who has to capture and train Pokemon along with defeating the criminal organization, Team Galactic’s evil agenda. The male and female protagonists are Lucas and Dawn respectively whereas Damion is the rival in this game. Game players get to have choice of becoming one of the two protagonists. The Nintendo Pokemon Diamond consists of 107 new Pokemon characters. It features eight Pokemon gyms which are led by their respective gym leaders. Each of these leaders have expertise in a particular Pokemon type and reward the skilful trainers (game players) with badges of merit which is the key to the game plot.

Pokemon Pearl was the other fourth generation game from the series to be released at the same time. Pokemon Pearl and Diamond sport extra features like the play over the internet with the help of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection whereas they also include Pokemon Contests which is an older concept.
