Singstar

The SingStar is an interactive video game made for the PlayStation 2 that has the power to get everyone enthusiastic about playing. Developed by SCEE and London Studios, the SingStar PS2 game is published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Europe. The game is a hybrid between a karaoke game and a karaoke bar. The game allows as many as eight players to play simultaneously, creating the feel of a live karaoke bar. The Freestyle mode allows players to practice without being judged or rated. This allows shy singers to prepare themselves well before trying their vocal talents in front of friends. The Star Maker mode in the game mimics the struggles of a singer, making his/her way to the top on the road to becoming a pop star. This mode involves waiting for opportunities, meeting challenges and fulfilling certain criteria before being finally picked by the biggest record company to become a SingStar superstar.

Equipped with superior technology, the game analyses each playerís vocal skills as they sing into a USB microphone. It comes with SingStar PS2 microphone and 30 new original tracks by The Rolling Stones, Bloc Party and The Cure, among others. These tracks contain the actual recordings and video footages of the original artists. SingStar game is compatible with the EyeToy USB camera that the players can use to view themselves singing. There is also an upcoming series to the SingStar due for release in 2007 for PlayStation 3.
