Air MaxAir Max is a sports shoe that was introduced by Nike, in 1987, as the first shoe with visible air technology. This shoe has a bulky air cushioning unit at the heel which is noticeable from the side of the midsole in many models. This shoe was launched primarily as a running shoe. Some of the popular models of Air Max include Air Max I (1987), Air Max II (1989), Air Max III (1990), Air Max IV (1991), Air Max 180 (1991), Air Max 270 (1993), Air Total Max (1995), Air Max (2003) and Air Max 360 (2007) among others. The 1993 Air Max model featured the fully visible heel Air unit and the 1995 model was the first to feature visible forefoot Air. A full length Air bag was seen in the 1997 model. The Air Max cushioning sports different types like "Air Max2" without holes in the cushioning units, "Tube Air" that is visible in a number of small circles on the midsole of the shoe, "Total Air" that is full Air Max cushioning, "Tuned Air" that is tuned to different areas of the foot. The Air Max 95 was inspired by the human anatomy where the spine of the shoe resembles the human spine. The air cushioning used in Air Max has been used in many sports shoes like basketball, golf, tennis and cross training among others. |
