JoblotA joblot is a group of varied items sold by wholesalers or other merchants at cheaper rates. That is, if one calculates the cost of each unit as sold in the general market and multiplies it with the number of units sold in a joblot; the price per unit in a job lot would be much lower. A typical wholesale job lot can contain all sorts of products and can benefit both the buyers and sellers. A seller can sell items that are either not in demand or aim for overall higher gross sales. Sometimes, wholesale joblots are also sold by manufacturers to successfully introduce new products in the market. Joblot items can be new or used. Job lots were originally conducted in open grounds. Keeping with the times, they have now shifted to the Internet and online portals. Book joblots are quite popular. Some of the items sold in job lot include shoes, watches, books, kitchenware, candles, clothes, cosmetics, electronics, lamps and others. Collectors may also find antiques, coins, stamps, etc in a joblot. Often, a customer may be lucky enough to chance across something which he would have been searching since long. Moreover, designers and creative personnel too buy at these job lots and further enhance them; these are subsequently sold off at much higher prices. |
