Picture FramesPicture frames are used to hold the pictures. Pictures can be framed for various reasons like, adding more aesthetic appeal to the picture, displaying it easily or even protecting it. These frames can be constructed out of various materials like soft wood, hard wood, aluminium or polystyrene. One can find picture frames in various colours and textures. Additionally, picture frames may feature mouldings or gilds for decorative purposes. The picture frames might feature glass pane or glass substitute in plastic like Plexiglas, for offering protection to the frame. Certain glasses are also treated with various coatings. For instance, the UV filter coating is used for decreasing the haziness that stems from ultraviolet light. Glazings like Denglas, Optium, and Museum glass have a coating that makes glass partially non-reflective and nearly invisible under ideal lighting conditions. It is important to see if the glass is raised enough from surface of the picture paper or any other media. If the paper touches the glass directly, then even the slightest bit of condensation wouldn’t be able to evaporate. Eventually, this would lead to the picture being spoiled. Additionally, with artworks done in loose media it is important to have a glass that’s raised. With the technological advances, these days it’s also possible to find digital picture frames, which can display digital photos without having to print them. |
